In 2017 and 2018, students explored the history of African Americans, Mexicans, Europeans, Asians and Women through the study of their music and its local movement in Omaha in the 20th century. Genre's studied included Drill & Step, Gospel, Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk, Soul, Mariachi, Polka, Refugee and Indie Rock. Students interviewed musicians and visited the places where the music is, or was, performed and produced. They listened to work in each genre and recorded musicians performing the music today.
