While Student Teaching in Omaha Public Schools, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best teachers in the industry. Over 60% of Omaha Public Schools teachers have master’s degrees or above. On average, our teaching staff have over 12 years of experience in the teaching industry. Among the experienced staff, Omaha Public Schools has 15 nationally certified teachers.
Stipend and Cost of Living

Student teachers from across the country receive a $9,000 stipend to complete their clinical practice within the Omaha Public Schools district.
The cost of living in Nebraska has consistently stayed below the national average. In 2022, Nebraska fell below the national average for cost of living prices by 17.1%.

Salary and Benefits
Highest starting salary in the Omaha Metro with 98% of benefits are paid for by the district. The district also offers a pension retirement plan.
Special Education
Parents, students, and families work together to address the needs of students. Special Education programs are available at each school in the district.
Curriculum and Instruction
Our district believes every student should receive a high-quality experience that pushes them to excel. CIS leads and develops curriculum for all Omaha Public Schools students ages birth to 21.

SCS works closely with schools, students, families and the community to increase student outcomes. Omaha Public Schools demonstrate an ethic of care for students and staff. State of the Art Schools

Our district encompasses 95 schools and locations throughout the Omaha community. We opened four new schools in Fall of 2022 to meet the needs of our community. One new middle school will be opening Fall 2023.
Omaha Public Schools completed two phases of improvements across our district totaling $838.9 million in renovations, additions and safety updates.
