Welcome Center and English Learner Family Involvement Program

  • The Welcome Center at the Teacher Administrative Center (TAC) is the home of our English Learner Family Involvement Program. This program helps Omaha Public Schools immigrant and refugee families learn English and adjust to life in the United States of America. Learn more about our classes and staff below.

    All classes are offered in the morning, 9:15 a.m. – 12 p.m., Monday – Friday following the Omaha Public Schools Elementary calendar.

    Classes are held at the Welcome Center at TAC.

In Our Program, Participants:

    • Learn English through reading, writing and conversation (various levels of classes are offered).
    • Learn English with their young child through Family Literacy.
    • Attend Vocational Classes: Technology, Driving Education, Citizenship, Sewing, Art and Parenting classes offered periodically.
    • Participate in Cultural Orientations and Family Engagement Activities such as sporting events, museums and concerts.
    • Learn about the Infinite Campus parent portal, report cards, school grading, student assignment plan, school lunches and transportation, Omaha Public Schools, local and state government.
