Research Requests
-
The Omaha Public Schools recognizes the value of educational research in fulfilling the school district's mission and meeting the needs of students. It is the practice of the Omaha Public Schools to allow individuals, institutions, and organizations to conduct research and obtain student data if approved by the district's Research Review Committee. Conducting Research Request examples may include but not limited to: Dissertation, Master's work, action research, program evaluations, or working directly with students, staff and/or parent/guardians. If you are a student teacher conducting research as part of your student teaching requirement, please contact Dr. Janet Zahm directly, as you may not need to complete this form. Please note that any study, including student teacher research, that includes the completion of surveys or interviews by students, parents, or staff must be approved by the Research Review Committee.
Individuals interested in conducting research and/or obtaining district/student/staff data must get approval from the Omaha Public Schools Research Division. Please read the research guidelines and then complete the online form. Please note that these requests may require additional documents such as consent forms, data release forms and/or confidentiality agreements. Please note, not all requests may be fulfilled due to privacy laws or other reasons.
Data Requests often require prior submission of a Conducting Research Request. Please review the requirements of Conducting Research Request above prior to submitting a data request. Aggregate data can also be found on this website. Additionally, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) provides annual reports that are publicly accessible on its website.Student Teachers
