Omaha School Employees' Retirement System (OSERS)

  • Omaha School Employees’ Retirement System (OSERS)

Omaha Public Schools is working hard to ensure OSERS is strong for many generations. The transfer of pension plan management is the logical next step for the health and sustainability of OSERS.

The Omaha School Employees’ Retirement System (OSERS) is now being managed by the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Board (PERB). The PERB is the governing board of the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS), which administers several statewide retirement systems. The PERB has a successful history of managing public employee retirement systems for more than 50 years. Omaha Public Schools is pleased to collaborate with the PERB to ensure the long-term success of OSERS, as it allows their experts to manage the pension plan and Omaha Public Schools’ staff to focus on educating children.

    • OSERS will continue to be a separate, independent pension plan, even after the transition of the day-to-day management.
    • OSERS benefits, retirement timelines and retiree payment amounts will not change due to this transition.

Retirees, and current and former employees can contact NPERS at (800) 245-5712 or visit their website at https://npers.ne.gov.
