Omaha Public Schools announces athletic directors for the district’s two new high schools, scheduled to open in August 2022.

Mr. Matthew Koehler will serve as athletic director at Buena Vista High and Mr. Eric Behrens will serve as athletic director at Westview High.

Mr. Matthew Koehler currently serves as athletic director at Nebraska City High School. He has a Master of Education in educational leadership from Doane College in Lincoln and has previously served as an elementary school teacher and K-12 principal as well as coaching boys basketball, golf and girls volleyball.

Mr. Eric Behrens currently serves as the dean of students at Central High School. He has a Master of Science in education from University of Nebraska-Omaha and an Educational Administration Endorsement from Wayne State College. He came to Omaha Public Schools in 2000, serving as a social studies teacher at King Science & Technology Center before teaching social studies and serving as the head boys basketball coach at Central High. He also served as the head men’s basketball coach for Peru State College from 2014 to 2017.

We look forward to their leadership for the Buena Vista Bisons and Westview Wolverines as part of the Omaha Public Schools athletic program.
