Mrs. Jennifer Gorrin

Jennifer Gorrin is a proud OPS graduate who has been with the district for 7 years. For 4 years she was a Spanish Teacher at Northwest while also coaching cheer. For the last 3 years she has been the Magnet Facilitator, AP and Dual Enrollment Coordinator, Educators Rising Sponsor and has taught the future educator classes. One of her biggest accomplishments in that was having students place at the national level during the Summer competition.This year, Mrs. Gorrin will be taking on 2 new roles as a curriculum specialist and as a mom! Her and her husband Shaun just welcomed their first baby in December, a son named Myles. While on leave, Jennifer is finishing up her Education Specialist degree in Education Leadership to add to her Bachelors in Secondary Education and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. Jennifer is looking forward to the collaboration, innovation, and positivity at Westview as well as building relationships with the new Wolverines!

Dr. Rachael Arens

Rachael Arens is excited to become the Curriculum Specialist and Assistant Cross-Country Coach at Westview High School. Rachael is currently completing her doctoral degree at UNL and was honored with the 2020 AFA/Rolls Royce National STEM Teacher of the Year, the United States EPA Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators, and the NEA 2018 Nebraska Teacher of the Year Award of Excellence. She spent time in Washington DC working at NASA as an Albert Einstein Fellow as well as the Galapagos Islands as a National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. Rachael has taught science courses at OPS for eight years, serves on OPS's Environmental Stewardship Taskforce, and held elected positions as a state board member for the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Science and the Nebraska Green Schools Committee providing professional development workshops and conferences for teachers across Nebraska. Rachael enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her partner rock climbing, riding horses, gardening, traveling internationally, and spending time with their hound dog and hairless cat. Rachael is enthusiastic about supporting students and teachers and fostering their leadership skills to make positive change in our world

Mrs. Katherine Brandt

Katie is currently a resource teacher at Alice Buffett Magnet Middle School. While at Buffet, she has been a BSP teacher while serving various roles, including Special Education Team Leader, MTSSB Tier 1 committee member, and MTSSB Tier 2 Chair. Prior to arriving at Buffett Middle School, she served as an elementary special education / resource teacher for four years.  Katie received her undergrad from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while on a swimming scholarship. She obtained her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Doane University. Katie is a firm believer that all students can and will learn when provided a collaborative and supportive environment that meets their individual needs. From Lincoln originally, Katie moved to Omaha in 2015 where she lives with her husband, son Davis, and dog Nila. Outside of school she enjoys CrossFit, the zoo, going to the cabin, and spending as much time with family as possible. Katie is thrilled to be a Wolverine!
