U.S. Education Secretary Visits Omaha Public Schools and Bryan High
“I chose to come to this school…because you do it right,” said Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Ed.D., while touring Omaha Public Schools and Bryan High. “I’m seeing an example of what we need to see across the country to make sure we can meet the demand for those high-skill, high-paying jobs.”
On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Sec. Cardona toured three College & Career Academies and Pathways at Bryan High. They included Design & Construction, Transportation, Distribution & Logistics and Urban Agriculture. Whatever a student’s plans for life after graduation may be, each academy instills in students the qualities in our Portrait of a Graduate, which are useful in any profession.
“It makes me very proud that my school was chosen to be visited by the Secretary of Education,” said Fatima Davila, who spoke with Sec. Cardona while hosting his school tour.
Superintendent Cheryl Logan, Ed.D., said following the visit, “We know it’s the right work. We know it’s something our state desperately needs in terms of preparing our students for the future.”
