History of Bryan Middle School

  • 1964: The building that now houses Bryan Middle School was built. The building, designed as a junior/senior high complex, educated students in grades seven through twelve.

    1964: The Principal of Bryan Junior/Senior High School was Dr. John McQuinn.

    1968: The first Bryan senior class graduated.

    1972: Bryan Senior High Students and teachers moved into their new building at 4700 Giles Road and Bryan Junio High housed grades seven through nine. Mr. Thomas Tolen became the Junior High principal.

    1976: Ninth grade moved to Horace Mann Ninth Grade Center and Bryan Junior High School served grades seven and eight.

    1980: Mr. Loren Penkava became the principal.

    1981: Ms. Joyce Christensen became principal.

    1984: Mr. Robert Whitehouse became the principal. 

    1987: Mr Ray Ramsey became the principal. 

    1989: Bryan Junior High elected to become a middle school, endorsing the middle school concepts of advisor/ adviser and teaming.

    1999: Mrs. Nancy Faber became the principal. 

    2002: Mr David Alati became the principal. 

    2005: Mrs. Susan Colvin became the principal. 

    2008: Mr. Robert Aranda became the principal. 

    2009: Mr. Darren Rasmussen became the principal.

    2017 to 2020: Bryan Middle underwent a more than $19 million whole school renovation thanks to a school bond.

    2020: Mr. Andrew Karmazin became the principal.
