Omaha Public Schools Board of Education to Vote on Extended Contract for Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Logan
On Thursday, June 23, the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education will vote on an updated contract to extend its agreement with Superintendent Cheryl Logan, Ed.D.
This is a challenging time and we are ready,” said Board of Education President Shavonna Holman, Ed.D., “Omaha Public Schools is leading with students at the core. We are meeting academic, social and emotional needs as we invest in staff throughout our district. Dr. Logan’s leadership is central to our success.”
In 2022, the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education updated its Strategic Plan of Action, focusing district-wide work around academics, staffing, financial accountability and OPS’ ethic of care through 2025. Board members and Superintendent Logan developed the plan with broad community input in 2019-20.
Pending Board of Education approval, the updated agreement would begin on July 1, 2022, and extend through June 30, 2025. It includes a 4.85% salary increase, which aligns with the total 2022-23 package increase approved for teachers. Since joining Omaha Public Schools in 2018, Dr. Logan’s first salary increase was in 2021.
“It is a privilege to serve the Omaha community and I am grateful to our Board of Education,” explained Superintendent Cheryl Logan, Ed.D. “Our children are the future of Omaha and Nebraska. This work is vitally important and we are moving forward, together.”
The Board of Education will vote on the superintendent’s contract at its Thursday, June 23 regular meeting.
*June 22, 2022 Update: Both action items initially planned for the June 23, 2022 Board of Education meeting have been moved forward to an upcoming meeting agenda due to anticipated Board Member absences. This includes the updated Superintendent's contract.*
