Middle Level Athletic Program Philosophy
The middle school years are a time of rapid growth, development and change. Many emotional highs and lows are experienced by middle school students during this time of their lives. As they attempt to adjust to and manage these changes, they are often challenged to the very limits of their skills and abilities. Middle School Athletics provides an opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, work through adversity, and to develop the attitude and work ethic which leads to success. We expect students to be exposed to excellent examples of sportsmanship and fair play from their participation in sports and other extracurricular activities. Our goal is to encourage participation; understand that students will make mistakes; teach teamwork and appropriate interaction with coaches, referees, peers, and opponents; foster an understanding that success can be achieved through hard work and perseverance. Norris Middle School has a history of excellence in multiple sports, including many team and individual championships. More importantly, we have a history of encouraging our athletes to be the best they can be and to have fun competing.
