About Pinewood Elementary

  • Pinewood has a student enrollment of approximately 220 students who are enrolled in PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade. The teachers and staff are dedicated professionals who work together to challenge each student to reach their greatest potential in a positive and safe learning environment. We are partnering with the Superintendents’ Plan for School Success to create a “School as Hub for Resources Birth to Grade 3.” This helps us ensure that Pinewood is a place for all the families in our community, even if the students are not yet school age. In addition to our classroom staff, we have a Home Visitor who works with families in the program who are expecting children and/or have children up through age 3. Our Family Facilitator works with the families who have students aged 3 through third grade, to assist with family engagement, encourage literacy activities at school and home, and aid in transitions and support for families.

Parent involvement is key to the success of our students.  We are fortunate to have a very active PTA which assists us throughout the school year by supporting our field trips and other special events.  We encourage parents to become involved with the Pinewood PTA and to volunteer at school.  Grade level teams and individual classrooms organize “Family Nights” with teachers, students, and their families, which help to develop a “family community of learners.”

Pinewood School is a team of staff, students, parents, and community working together to teach students to become high achievers, life-long learners, and responsible citizens.
