National Career Academy Coalition Recognizes Superintendent Cheryl Logan, Ed.D.

Cheryl Logan and OPS staffHonoring national leadership in college and career education, the National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) recognized Superintendent Cheryl Logan, Ed.D., at its 2022 conference.
 
NCAC leaders presented Logan with the Charles Bowser Leadership Award. In the late 1960’s, Bowser served as Deputy Mayor of Philadelphia. Through that position, he implemented the first career academies in the nation.
 
Omaha Public Schools is expanding access to high-quality high school programming across our district. College & Career Academies and Pathways better connect a student's time in high school to their goals for life after graduation.
 
Even before this expansion, Omaha Public Schools won state and national awards. North High's Academy of Engineering and Design earned "Model Academy" status through the NCAC. It is the fourth academy in Omaha Public Schools to receive that top-tier distinction. Benson and Bryan High have also earned model status for programs in their schools.
 
In June 2022, the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) celebrated Omaha Public Schools staff and programming. NDE named Chief Academic Officer Susan Christopherson Career and Technical Education (CTE) Administrator of the Year. The same team named King Science & Technology Middle its middle-level Program of the Year. North High teacher Robert Hjelle earned honors as Outstanding Educator in Skilled and Technical Sciences.
