    Dear Packers,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the start of another school year at Omaha South High.  Thank you for choosing Omaha South High, where we are committed to creating an atmosphere that provides each of our students with a high-quality education and the skills and support to guide them through their high school experience.

At Omaha South High, you will find dedicated and talented staff members who are here to contribute to your student’s educational success.  We believe your student’s education is a partnership among school staff, students, parents, and the community.  I ask that your family make a commitment to be actively involved in your student’s school experience by monitoring their attendance, homework, study habits, short and long-term schedule of events, and their extracurricular involvement.  Please know that we are here to assist you.  Feel free to contact your student’s teachers, counselors, administrators, or myself.

A friendly, safe, and respectful school climate is as important to me as the academic achievement we work toward on a daily basis.  Please support us from home as we expect all students will come to school ready to contribute to an environment where all students are respected by each other and by our staff.  Omaha South High is a place where we take our academic success and the success of others very seriously, where each person becomes responsible for their own actions.  Please review the Code of Conduct with your child for specific guidelines on what attire will not be acceptable for school.  Cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, and other electronics should be put away, and students are not allowed to have them during class as they can interrupt the learning environment.  The electronics are only allowed before and after school, during student lunchtimes, and passing periods. Omaha South High is a closed campus, and all students are expected to remain in the building from 7:40am to 3:05pm.

School begins in just a few weeks.  Please take note of our Packer Orientation schedule where families should come in to take school photos, complete annual updates, fill out education benefits form and take care of any other start-of-the-year requirements.

    Sincerely,

    Jodi Pesek

    Principal
