• Lions' Pride provides a fun, educational alternative to all McMillan students after school! The YMCA of Greater Omaha administers Lions' Pride through a grant from the Middle School Learning Center Initiative (MSLCi). MSLCi is a joint effort of the Mayor's After-School Initiative, Omaha Public Schools, Collective for Youth, and The Sherwood Foundation.

Participation in Lions' Pride is free. However, there must be room in the program and students must have the proper paperwork on file before participation is allowed. Lions' Pride is held Monday-Friday (per OPS district calendar) from 3:05PM-6:00PM. Late buses are available for students who ride the school bus to and from school at 5:15pm. Students must sign up for busses during their lunch period. Transportation is not provided for students who do not ride school buses to and from school. Students are to be picked up no later than 6:00PM. Walkers will be released at this time. *Repeated pick ups after 6:00PM may result in a parent/teacher meeting to ensure that students are picked up by the appropriate time.*

Our Mission at the YMCA of Greater Omaha is to strengthen communities through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. Putting emphasis on youth development, Lions' Pride is designed to provide McMillan students with unlimited access to tutoring/homework help, personal and social development, STEAM activities, academic clubs, athletics, and more!

Community providers are: Tyrome Building Dreams Foundation, Bridget St Bridget Theater, Big Garden, Why Arts, AIM(Brain Exchange)/Coding, Civic Nebraska Street Team, Creighton Science, Future Kids, DREAM, Girls Rock!, Omaha Public Library, Basic Hope Foundation, Empowered Minds, Young Entrepreneurs of the Future, Esports through the YMCA of Greater Omaha, and more! These organizations conduct interactive sessions with students on a set schedule throughout the week.

Be sure to have an accessible email on file when signing your child up, as that will be the main mode of communication for program updates and announcements for Lions' Pride. You can also follow our Instagram account which has important program updates and media of our activities so you can see what your student is doing. (@OPS_McMillanLionsPride) McMillan will send out updates as well when applicable.
