Degrees and Certifications:

Rachel Kohls

Hi, my name is Rachel Kohls and I am ecstatic to be able to work alongside the students, parents, and staff at Westview High School! I am a proud graduate of Omaha Burke High School and count it a blessing to work for the same district I had the privilege of attending and graduating from! I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in education, and I remember the countless hours playing “teacher” in my grandparents' basement. Over the years I have had many opportunities in the education field student teaching, working with kids and teens, as well as being a member of educators rising.
For the last two years I have had the wonderful privilege of serving as a Kindergarten Paraprofessional at the same elementary school I attended as a child (Catlin Arts Magnet Elementary). I am so excited to be able to serve as the athletics secretary, as I am a huge sports fan and played basketball as a kid! I can’t wait for new year ahead and what is in store for the future of Westview High School! Go Wolverines!

Athletic Information

  • Westview High School is proud to join the Metro Conference and offer varsity and sub-varsity sports during its opening year. Students will participate in Class A athletics in all sports except football, which will participate in Class B.

Westview, which will open with only freshmen and sophomores,

OPS Director of Athletics John Krogstrand said in a statement that the decisions were made after discussions with Principal Thomas Lee at Westview.

“Our focus is always on opportunities for the students we serve, and that is driving the decisions we make amid a complicated scheduling equation,” he said.

The rationale included that “each school receives a full schedule of varsity and subvarsity competitions as well as providing like opportunities for all of our schools and participants.” The Metro was preferable to a league of mostly Class B teams for temporary membership while the school adds grades in 2023 and 2024, or competing without a league.
