Multicultural Nonsexist Education

Multicultural Nonsexist Education that considers equity and respects individual difference is essential to all students. It leads to understanding and respect for racial, ethnic, gender and cultural groups that form our community and nation. Understanding is the foundation for belief in the dignity of humankind throughout the world.

It is important that all students in the Omaha Public Schools see themselves reflected in the curriculum irrespective of their race, sex, age, ethnic origin or cultural background.

Students must see the contributions and perspectives of other races, gender and cultural groups. These insights must be developed systematically in a well planned curriculum over several years of instruction. (Multicultural Nonsexist Education Handbook, Omaha Public Schools, p. 7)
