Technology education is structured to help students achieve the following purposes:
- Formulate a fundamental knowledge about the development of technology and its effect on people, the environment, and culture.
- Develop insight, understanding, and application of technological concepts, processes, and systems.
- Gain laboratory experience that is activity based, and oriented to the exploration and the reinforcement of abstract concepts with practical experiences.
- Utilize tools, materials, machines, processes, and technical concepts safely and efficiently.
- Develop skills, creative abilities, positive self-image, and individual potential.
- Develop abilities in decision making and problem solving techniques which may involve human and/or material resources, processes and technological systems.
- Strengthen and expand basic skills in communications, mathematics, and sciences.
- Adopt a positive "work ethic" attitude.
- Prepare students for life-long learning in an expanding and changing technological society.
- Combine and emphasize the "know-how" and the "ability to do" in carrying out technological work.
- Assume responsibility for actions and learning, and to participate in controlling their own destiny.
