EXPECTATIONS FOR THE CLASSROOM

BE ON TIME. In order to keep all students SAFE at Norris Middle School all students need to be in the room before the bell stops ringing. If they come in late, they need to have a signed pass from another teacher so it will not be counted tardy. If there is not a pass they are considered tardy. We will be using the Norris Middle School tardy policy.

COME PREPARED TO CLASS. You will need to bring you agenda, a writing utensil and paper to class EVERYDAY. This is your RESPONSIBILITY If it continues that you do not bring supplies to class, you will stay after school.

NO TALKING while the teacher, guest speaker or another student is discussing class material. If you have a question or comment related to the class topic, raise your hand and wait to be called on.

RESPECT ANY TEACHER/ADULT IN THE CLASSROOM - Ms. Hagaman, another teacher, substitute teacher, counselor, administrator or guest speaker. Rude to a sub/another adult is an automatic detention/referral when Ms. Hagaman gets back.

RESPECT. You will respect EVERYONE in the class. This means no put-downs or rude comments to anyone. Treat others like you would like to be treated.

FOOD, DRINK, OR GROOMING IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM, unless otherwise specified by Ms. Hagaman in advance.

STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN CLASS EVERY DAY. Our class periods are not long enough for students to leave every day. We must use all of the time that we have. I expect the students to use restrooms and water fountains during passing periods. I will use a pass in the student’s agenda in an emergency. The student must be responsible in bringing their agenda every day.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR will be handled with verbal warnings, note/call home, classroom detentions or administrative referrals.

APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR will be reinforced through verbal praise, student recognition, rewards or positive notes/calls home.
