Dear Parents/Guardians:

As always, this time of year, the summer seems to pass by too quickly to get in all the family plans and activities.  Before you know it your child/children will be getting ready to go back to school for another exciting and engaging year of learning.  As educators, we too look forward to starting fresh and new each school year.  We have a new schedule for next year that we feel will provide plenty of academic support for your child and more time for our teachers to spend with them.

You will find in this mailing several different documents.  Two of these that I want to draw your attention to are the student accident insurance form and a copy of your student’s schedule.  Take time to read the insurance form and fill it out.  If you child wants to participate in sports this year they must have some type of insurance coverage.  You may choose to purchase this insurance or use your own personal coverage.

Please note that on the first day of school your child needs to go to their ETC teacher’s room right away when the bell rings at 7:30.  From that point they will receive further directions for the first several days of school.  If you are having trouble deciphering the schedule, please feel free to visit with us at the school prior to the first day so we can help you and your student figure it out.  Together, we can make all of the students at Norris very successful.

In the upcoming weeks, please consider being a part of the Norris extended family by volunteering at the school, or becoming actively involved in our PTSA; we welcome all parents/guardians at school. You will find a form with this mailing that asks you to become part of our growing family.  We encourage you to read and fill it out.

I extend an invitation to all family members who are new to Norris to attend our Orientation Night, August 13, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30. We will start the evening off in the auditorium with a short introduction to the building and staff.   Please bring with you that evening, the schedule that has been mailed to you.  You can use it to go through your child’s schedule with them. This is a wonderful time for all students and parents/guardians new to Norris to tour the school, meet staff and learn more about activities and/or sports offered at Norris.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and I look forward to meeting with all of you for the upcoming 2009-2010 school year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 557-4805 or email me at anita.harkins@ops.org.

Sincerely,
