In order to continue our efforts to create the most safe and secure learning environment, our district has installed electronic locks (buzzer entry system) on the main entrance door. This added security feature has been installed in several other OPS school buildings and is very popular across the United States.
Here are the top five things you need to know about the buzzer system:
1 - The buzzer is mounted outside these doors; the buzzer beeps through a monitor with video and speaker access.
2 - When you buzz, you will be greeted and kindly asked, “How may we help you?” and “What is the nature of your visit?” We need for you to tell us your name and the nature of your visit.
3 - After being buzzed in, all visitors will continue to sign in at the main office and sign students out at the attendance window.
4 - The buzzer system will not allow access unless the visitor buzzes in first. Office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
5 - Starting on Monday, January 7th, all visitors arriving between 7:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. will need to use the main door buzzer entry system. Nathan Hale staff is on duty to monitor the doors while we welcome and dismiss our students. The electronic entry system will be in effect at all other times.
