Two of our 7th grade students had their letters to the editor published in the Omaha World Herald. Read their letters here. Congratulations Anthony and Ashlie!
Sixth-graders in middle school
Regarding an Aug. 16 news story, “Caught in between,” I agree with sending sixthgraders to middle school. In elementary school, we only study about science experiments. In middle school, we actually do them. With block scheduling, we have fewer classes a day. We also have lockers with locks so our things don’t get stolen.
I personally think sixth-graders should go to middle school.

Give a choice on middle school
I think that sixth-graders should stay in elementary school.
I was disappointed to hear that all of Council Bluffs’ sixth-graders had to go to middle school. I don’t think they would be ready. I believe they should have a choice.
I was a sixth-grader last year and wanted to stay in elementary school. I knew I wouldn’t be prepared for middle school yet.
Now a seventh grader, I believe kids should be able to choose to go to middle school or elementary school.
