Morton Middle School - Omaha Public Schools
Grading

Grading:

Students are given 50 PE points daily.  Those points consist of:

  1. 5 points for being on time.
  2. 15 points for uniform (shirt, shorts, shoes; 5 points each)
  3. 30 points for participation/behavior/attitude.

If students are absent from PE class, they are required to make up those 50 points.  Swimming can only be made up by swimming.

PE/Locker Room Procedures
  • Students must have their gym clothes at school on PE days and be in full uniform for each PE class.
    1. Each student will be issued a PE locker with a padlock. There is a $3.00 charge for lost locks.  Please leave expensive jewelry and large amounts of money at home to avoid the loss of these items.
    2. Gym suits (shirt and shorts) and gym shoes should be kept in your own PE locker.
    3. If a student does not have their gym suit at school that day, the teacher will provide a substitute uniform.
    4. Students may not return to their hall lockers for PE items after the tardy bell.
  • Excuses
    1. If a student is present at school, they will be expected to participate in PE class to the best of their ability.
    2. A doctor’s note is required to be excused from class for more than 2 days. This note will be paced on file with the school nurse.
  • Swimming
    1. All students are given the opportunity and are required to participate in swimming at Morton.
    2. Any missed swimming days must be made up.
    3. Swimming suits and towels are provided and must be used for swim class.
  • Locker Room Procedures
    1. Students are to arrive before the tardy bell rings.
    2. Students have 5 minutes to change clothes and sit down by their lockers.
    3. Once dressed, students should stay seated by their locker until dismissed to their activity area.
    4. Students are encouraged and will be given ample time to shower, dry their hair (if swimming) and dress for their following class.
    5. No running or rough play in the locker room.
