Math 5
This course covers the 5th grade mathematics content standards. Students will work with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions, study metric and standard measurement systems, learn geometric concepts, interpret and analyze data, and develop and solve equations and real-life problems.
- Read, write (in digits, words, and expanded form), round, order, and compare whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
- Utilize estimation and the four operations to solve problems with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
- Select appropriate tools and demonstrate unit conversions within a system of measurement.
- Identify, describe, compare, and classify geometric figures and apply procedures to determine perimeter, area, and volume.
- Collect, organize, interpret, and analyze data to draw conclusions and make predictions.
- Develop and solve two-step equations using one variable.
- Identify, develop, and apply strategies to solve problems using real-life situations.
Math 6
This course covers the 6th grade mathematics content standards. Students will work with integers, fractions, decimals, and percents, study metric and standard systems of measurement, apply properties of geometry, use data analysis, and solve problems involving multiple-step equations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of equivalencies and relationships among integers, fractions, decimals, and percents.
- Utilize estimation and the four operations to solve problems with whole numbers, integers, decimals, and fractions.
- Measure quantities in both standard and metric units and convert within the same system.
- Apply geometric properties of congruency, similarity, symmetry, and transformation.
- Determine area and circumference of circles.
- Use data analysis, probability, and statistics to make predications and decisions.
- Develop and solve multiple-step equations using one variable.
- Identify, develop, communicate, and apply strategies to solve problems using real-life situations.
