The McMillan Math Department’s goal is to increase student confidence in mathematical knowledge and skills while promoting the ability to reason and communicate. McMillan offers standards-driven mathematics curricula where students use manipulatives and specialized technology to develop a deeper understanding of mathematical ideas and concepts.

Program Highlights

Carnegie Cognitive Tutor 

A computer-based tutorial instruction designed to improve student understanding of Algebra and Pre-Algebra concepts 

Algebra Plus 

A two year program which consists  of one semester of Pre-Algebra skills, followed by three semesters of Algebra 1-2 concepts

The Math Team

The students compete locally, regionally, and nationally in math contests. This team also hosts McMillan’s Sixth Grade Math Contest

Hands-on exploration and real-life problem solving are utilized in all math courses
