McMillan offers the only three-semester, pre-engineering curriculum in the metro area that is designed for middle school students. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is an nationally-known pre-engineering program designed to help students become excited about engineering while being cognitively challenged. Students who like math, science, and problem solving will benefit from these courses.
Program Highlights
- PLTW Honors Courses are four units that have been extended to create three enriching semester courses. Seventh graders may take Technology and Electrons. Eighth graders may take Design and Modeling, as well as, Automation and Robotics.
- Introduction to Architecture is a semester course that teaches students basic knowledge of architecture design and 3-D computer modeling software.
- Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Team competes in the regional SAME Competition held at UNO.
- Technology and Living Labs utilize career exploration modules with engineering themes exclusive to McMillan. These modules are: CADD (Computer-Aided Drafting and Design), Creative Solutions, Digital Manufacturing, Digital Transportation, Electricity, Energy, Power and Mechanics, Engineering Bridges, Gravity, and Lights/Lasers.
