Body Image
Body Image
The media feeds a lot of lies to our society; one of the biggest lies they have told teens today is that “thin is beautiful”. This false statement is pressuring a lot of teens to become overly aware of their body image, and how they look.
For girls, this is a very big deal. When people make comments about how they look, or their weight, it makes them feel self conscious. In order to feel better about how they look they turn to under eating and over exercising. This is really unhealthy and can cause many health problems. Thin is not beauty is you have to push yourself to become something you aren’t and jeopardize your health.
This is also a big issue for guys. The media tells them that they have to be buff and extremely handsome. When guys aren’t living up to these standards, they take extreme measures to change themselves. Guys, too, can turn to under eating and over exercising.
This false image of perfection is resulting in drastic consequences. Thin is not beautiful, real people are beautiful.
