Nurse News
When it comes to health, people know who to go to, Mrs. Wilson, the school nurse. May is Skin Cancer Awareness month. Skin cancer prevention is what a person should do to protect their skin in the summer, like putting on sunscreen 30 minutes before he/she goes outside. People should always wear a hat and sunglasses that block the UV rays. Avoid the sun from 10:00 am- 4:00pm, and be sure to drink a lot of water. Make sure to also wear the appropriate clothing; shorts and a short sleeve shirt, or a tank top.

Fun in the sun is how people keep safe during summer holidays, like the Fourth of July; this is to help people with fireworks. Fireworks can be very dangerous. Fireworks are so dangerous, that if a person stands too close they can go off in the wrong direction and burn that person and then they will be scared for the rest of their life. Also if anyone get’s caught with fireworks in Omaha they will have to pay a fine because fireworks are illegal in Omaha.

Another big thing people need to watch for is bugs. One annoying bug in the summer is the mosquito. To prevent from getting mosquito bites make sure to put on a lot of bug spray. Another annoying bug is the tick. If a person has a tick on he/her remove with tweezers, grab near the head or mouth and pull gently to remove the whole tick. After removing the tick wash the area with soap and water. To learn more anyone can go to the school nurse and any questions that people have can be answered by her.
