Express Yourself
Express Yourself

Honors Art is a class for the skilled. Ms. Sherman, art teacher, picks her students that are qualified for Honors Art at the end of their seventh grade year. The students that do qualify can choose to be or not to be in Honors Art class. Honors Art is a year long class, for the determined students who like to express their skills.

The 15 students in the class completed numerous projects such as the clay sculpture totem poles. The totem poles were made in animal form to show three things that describe the students. Another project was completing an art book. This included at least eight pages of creative work. “It was somewhat like a scrapbook, something you put your memories in. When it was all together it looked really good,” said Trent Bostwick, 8.

As an end-of-the-year project Sherman had her students complete the Art Car. Students watched the Disney film Cars. Student, Breanna Meissner thought the Art Car was the most fun project of them all because it was a must to make the car different from anything ever seen. “Being in Honors Art was a lot of help for me to express myself better,” said Asher Lewis, student.
