Staying healthy is really important during the wintertime. If you want to stay healthy, you have to eat healthy, which means eating foods that are good for you such as fruits and vegetables and foods that don’t have a lot of sugar. Exercising is important if you want to maintain a healthy weight. Get plenty of rest; good seven or eight hours should do the job. It’d be a good idea to dress for the weather so bundle up. Also to stay healthy wash your hands. Mrs. Wilson, school nurse, said it is the most effective measure from preventing the spread for diseases. She also advises to avoid physical contact with sick people and consider getting a flu shot. If you are sick stay at home, you need to be fever free before returning to school.
There are numerous illnesses people should be aware of especially for this time of the year. They include colds, flu, gasroententis, sore throat, strep throat and coughs. “Be sure to follow the suggestion and try to stay healthy,” said Wilson.
Wilson sees a lot of different students throughout the school day. The most common ailments are stomach aches, headaches, and sore throats. Wilson went on to say seeing a baby being born was her most rewarding experience as a nurse.
