McMillan Magnet Center

McMillan Magnet Center is a safe and diverse Middle School that offers its seventh and eighth grade students unique opportunities in Mathematics, Engineering, Communication Arts and Technology. Students choose to attend McMillan from all over the city of Omaha. An exceptional educational environment is provided for students who excel in mathematics and for those who get excited about learning hands-on engineering concepts, while remaining in a well-rounded educational program.

McMillan Students Attend Rotary Honor Roll Luncheon by Henderson

Sixteen McMillan students attended the luncheon and were honored by the Rotary Club of Omaha. The 85th Annual Rotary Honor Roll Luncheon honors 5% of the 8th grade students in the Omaha Metro area. The selection of the Rotary Honor Roll recipients was made by their schools on the basis of these categories, Leadership, Character, Scholarship and Presence.

Alexandra Regier receives fourth place in essay contest by Henderson

Please join us in congratulating Alexandra Regier for her fourth place award in the "Who is Your Superhero?" Essay contest.  Alexandra will get a $50 Mall Gift Card and 4 passes to the Rave Movie Theater presented to her by Mayor Jim Suttle Satuurday at the OPD Salute to Safety Expo.


 

McMillan Wins Silver Medal in the National Academic Pentathlon by Henderson

McMillan Magnet Center won the silver medal in the 2012 National Academic Pentathlon, beating last year’s champion, Riverview School (WI) and placing behind Moniteau Middle School (PA).

McMillan Places 5th at the 2012 State Science Olympiad by Henderson

As a Team, McMillan placed 5th out of over 30 teams across the state
This is the 4th straight year to place in the top 6 for McMillan Magnet Center.


Every team member on this years team received a medal.

McMillian Wins National USAD Pentathlon Scrimmage! McMillian Wins National USAD Pentathlon Scrimmage! by Henderson

McMillian at the National USAD Pentathlon Scrimmage

In the January Academic Pentathlon National scrimmage, McMillan Magnet Middle School outscored the reigning national champions from Riverview Middle School in Plymouth, WI to win the Overall Team gold medal.

Individual Gold Medalists in the January scrimmage were Dan Didier, Social Studies; Kelsey Thomas, Music; Chris Kathka, Math; Sam Planck, Music; Julius Buckner, Science; Elias Rios, Science and Social Studies; Elijah Sturek, Math and Individual Overall.

The Academic Pentathlon is a five event competition for middle school students that encourages and rewards academic excellence. They events are joined thematically around the “Age of Empire.” Students compete in essay, math, music, science, and social science. Individual and team awards are given. The Academic Pentathlon is sponsored by the OPS Office of Gifted and Talented Education.
