Welcome to Ms. Meister's Reading Essentials class!

 
This course gives focused instruction for skill development in reading.  This course gives students opportunities to reinforce reading skills and reading strategies. 

In this class we focus on the four main strategies that good readers use: Predicting, Questioning, Clarifying, and Summarizing.  These strategies are vital to increasing reading comprehension.  Students are reading several books per week to practice these strategies in varied types of material.

 
Each student should be reading outside of the classroom as well.  This is absolutely necessary to the success of the program!  Encourage your student to read whenever possible, whether it be a comic book, a newspaper, or a novel.  Good reading is an essential skill for life!
