Welcome to Mrs. Collins’ Sci Tech Website

I work with all 5th and 6th graders at King Science Center. Each child is enrolled in Sci Tech for one quarter.  This class is offered at only four magnet schools in O.P.S. and selected OPS staff members wrote the modules.  Fifth graders complete Orientation, the Career Connections module and some hand on activities involving measurement and flight.  The sixth graders choose from several different modules they are interested in.  More modules are developed each summer and implemented at the different middle schools.  

Sci Tech is made up of Science based modules, consisting of seven sessions each.  Each module includes a 10-question pretest in session 1, Research, Challenge, and Math Applications in sessions 2-5, and a Post Test in session 7.   Session 6 allows students to play a game called Bloop or Critter Cross to practice for the Post Test.  Each session includes hands on activity, measurement, enrichments, Technical Writing and a culminating project.
