Cisco's IT Essentials 1 has been a very successful course here at KSTM.  Students use skills and strategies of distance learning and hands on labs to develop skills in computer problem diagnosis and repair.

We have made two small changes to the content delivered in that we have added skills in OSX for Macs and Linux Operating Systems.  The Planetarium's Hybrid Computer Systems Lab allows the students to gain experience on the three major operating systems found in business and academia.

Our students get to practice their skills by using our Wired-Cats computer assistance program.  Students will go and help teachers learn how to use some forms of technology and diagnose problems that need to be addressed.  This is very good for the students because it gives them a soft skills to work with the public and patience in a teaching teachers new skills.
