Welcome to Mrs. Hibler’s 7th Grade Language Arts Class!
2009-2010
As 7th graders, we will experience many things. We will work with Reading and Writing workshops, author purpose,writing strategies, and many other things. One of the things that I am most excited for this year is our new textbooks, grammar workbooks, and curriculum that will focus on questions about you, your friends, and family. Each quarter will focus on a different aspect of you. Our 1st semester will go: 1st quarter- Identity, 2nd quarter- Relationships.
Another new thing that our school is trying this year is Honors by Contract. This program will allow any student the opportunity to challenge him/herself in the area of language arts. Students will be provided an introduction to this option within the first two weeks of school. There will be a PowerPoint on Honors by Contract that you are free to view in the link section under "Honors by Contract PowerPoint". A letter and form will also go out to your students within the first two weeks, so please watch for it.
One last thing that I want parents to be sure to check out is the assignment link. Each week I will try to update the assignment link so that students and parents can look for upcoming assignments and due dates. Please know that this is meant to be a guide and there may be times that, during the course of the class, things may need to be changed. I will do my best to see that these changes are reflected on the assignment link. To also assist students in working on assignments, the new Language Arts textbook is available online.
