Alice Buffett Magnet Middle School - Omaha Public Schools
Welcome from Dr. Kehrberg

Welcome to Alice Buffett Magnet Middle School where academic excellence is the standard and communication is an art! Our mission is to provide a rigorous academic experience that is based on research and best practices and enables all students to achieve their highest potential.

Buffett Magnet Middle School is a departmentalized middle school for grades 5 through 8. A strong core curriculum consists of reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science and is completely aligned with the academic standards of the Omaha Public Schools and the state of Nebraska. Upon completion, a student will be well prepared to meet the academic rigors of high school.

In addition to core classes, students have an opportunity to investigate individual strengths and talents through our cooperative arts courses. Cooperative arts courses offered at Buffett Magnet Middle School include art, vocal and instrumental music, computer applications, physical education, technology and living, human growth and development, and international languages. The extra value in our curriculum are the magnet courses. Our 5th and 6th graders participate in a specialized communications technology course, computer applications and forensics/speech. In 7th and 8th grade, students select from the following magnet courses: broadcasting, journalism, digital media and oral interpretation of literature.

At Buffett Magnet Middle School, we provide academic support programs that will help students achieve their highest academic level. Our Gifted and Talented, and Special Education programs are excellent.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of outstanding extra-curricular programs and activities. Basketball, volleyball, performance choirs, band, soccer, art, journalism, radio/TV production, art club, chess and wrestling are just a few of the sports, clubs, and activities available for consideration.  We are proud to celebrate over a dozen athletic city championships.

Please feel free to contact any of the outstanding Buffett staff members for more information!
