My name is Ms. Doohen and I am the counselor for 7A/8A.  As a counselor I help students succeed in school.  I focus on helping students achieve good grades and I also focus on making sure students attend school regularly. 

There are three domains to the counseling program:

Academic - This domain helps students to be successful, both in middle school and high school and beyond.  Some of the skills we focus on are:

* Time management

* Setting goals

* Using good decision making skills

Careers- This domain helps students plan for the future and set goals.  Some of the skills we focus on are:

* Identifying career goals

* Learning about career options

* Identifying skills that are needed for obtaining a job

Personal/Social- This domain helps students learn about relationships and how to treat other people.  Some of the skills we focus on are:

* Building relationships

* Respecting self and others

* Learning to resolve conflicts
