   I am Mrs. Arnold, School Nurse at Bryan Middle School.  As the School Nurse, my primary concern is always the health and well-being of our students and staff.  My goal is to assist our students and staff with their health needs, so that our students can receive the best possible opportunities to learn, and ultimately achieve their highest potential.

School Health Policies & Requirements

  • Medications:  All medications (prescription or over-the-counter such as Tylenol, cough drops, etc.) require a Doctor's Order, and parent's permission slip to be on file with the school nurse.  Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them unless they have special permission from the nurse.  Medications for school use must be in the original bottles.  Medications are locked in the Health Office, and administered by the nurse or trained staff.  Inhalers can be carried by students if the nurse has a Doctor's order on file, and obtained permission for the student to do so.
  • Physicals:  All 7th grade students, and students who transfer in from out-of-state, are required to obtain a Medical Physical within 60 days of enrollment, and provide a copy to the school nurse.  Students with Physicals that are dated after March 15th of the current school year will be eligible to play after school sports.
  • Sports Physicals:  Any student participating in after school sports activities is required to have a Medical Physical dated after March 15th of the current school year.  A copy of the Physical must be on file with the School Nurse in order to be eligible.
  • Immunization Requirements:  All students are required to have the following immunizations.                      
  •   3 Doses /DPT/TD/Dt  
  •   3 doses OPV/IPV
  •   2 doses MMR
  •   3 doses Hepatitis B (or 2 doses of the Adult series which also requires a Physician note to waive the 3rd dose.)
  •   1 dose Varicella or the year the student had the Chicken Pox.  Students 13 years or older who have not had the Chicken pox or varicella shot prior to age 13, are required to have 2 doses of the varicella vaccine.                                                                              
  •   Out-Of-State Students:  In addition to requiring a Medical Physical, any student transfering from Out-of-state also is required to have a Vision exam within 60 days of enrollment.  A copy of this exam should also be provided to the school nurse.
