Welcome to
the Omaha South High Magnet School Library!

Our school library, located in what used to be South High's gymnasium on the third floor, is the school's center for information and learning. Open at 6:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. students are encouraged to visit the library for all of their educational and reading needs.

Enjoy the bright, open, atmosphere and catch up on some reading or research homework topics on one of our 22 networked computers. Search the online library catolog to find books from around the district, or use links located on this web page in order to search Omaha Public Schools' electronic reference databases.

The South High library holds over 18,000 items both print and non-print, available for students and staff. Students who have their ID card can check out up to 5 items at a time, which check out for a 2 week period.

The library is also the location for A Gathering of Poets Club, South High Needlework Club, and the South High Reading Club. Our library hosts various school events and awards programs, as well as author visits and banquets. The library is a meeting place for school visitors such as the Nebraska Humane Society as well.

Need homework help? The library is the place to find tutors throughout the school day. Want to just unwind and relax? Come up to the library during study hall and read a book or look at a magazine or a newspaper. Remember your planner and your ID!

Dr. Lomax, the school librarian, and her assistants Mrs. Flint and Ms. Kawa are happy to help! They work hard each day to ensure South High students and staff receive current materials, efficient assistance, and have an enjoyable place for learning.

The library is a hub of creative activity. Stop by and check it out!
