Information for Parents

Course Syllabi

A standardized course syllabus is now available for most, if not all, classes taught at North.  Each PDF file contains a description of the course, teacher expectations and teacher contact information.  You can access a teacher's syllabus from the FACULTY & STAFF section of our website.

Parents using AOL

Parents using AOL who want to receive emailed progress reports from teachers need to make a change in their AOL settings.  Please go to this website.  AOL is apparently treating email from our gradebook server as spam.  Unless you have your account configured to accept email from your child's teachers, you will not receive the emailed progress reports.   It is our understanding that you will have to add each teacher's email address to your AOL "Safe List" by following the directions at the website.  Email addresses for our staff can be found by clicking on FACULTY/STAFF (at the top of our website) and then, in the left pane, clicking on DEPARTMENTS.  From there, click on the individual department.

Parent Involvement Day

Parent Involvement Day allows parents & guardians the opportunity to visit their child's classes during the school day. Shuttle Service will be available from the YMCA parking lot in the morning. The date for the 2008-2009 school year has not been set.

PTSO

The Parent-Teacher-Student Organization exists to support the teachers, staff and students. It is a great way to be involved in your school's achievements. Our student' acoomplishments continue to grow each year along with the dedicated efforts of the faculty, staff and parent involvement. PTSO hopes to remain a key support to the success of our students during their era.

Students of the Month

Students of the Month are chosen by the staff on the basis of attendance, academics and behavior. [Read More]

Viewing Course Information Online

Beginning in August, 2004 under a program called "eClass Online," teachers can post, at their discretion, course syllabi, assignments and other course-related information to the web. This information is viewable by students and parents from any web browser.

Staff are not required to post information at this site. However, a growing number are doing so. In particular, the Art Department has made the decision to move all of its curriculum materials including presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint format to eClass Online. For those users without PowerPoint, there is a link in the Art Department site to a free PowerPoint Viewer.
