Music & Media Technology

First offered in 2000, the Music and Media Technology program allows students to explore a wide variety of computer technology applications in digital media and music. Students develop competencies in seven areas including electronic musical instruments, MIDI sequencing, music notation software, computer-assisted instruction, multimedia and digitized media, Internet and telecommunications, information processing, computer systems, and lab management. Emphasis is placed on students learning skills in media technology to create new products and to support academic standards across the curriculum.

Music & Media Tech students received awards at the 2007 Apple Computer Digies Award for Nebraska. Winning entries can be viewed on the Apple-maintained website.

The Fellas Night Out show is produced by the MusicTech class and portrays the musings of three guys on various oddities of life. The characters are Luigi, Pistachio and Leroy.

The Music Media Tech program submitted an entry to the 2006 National School Boards Association T+L conference held in Dallas in November and received an honorary mention in the 2006 Student Moviefest competition. The film “2026 - Just Around the Corner," an 8 MB mp4 file, can be downloaded from the 2006 Student Moviefest site. The students involved in its production include Zach Baltz, Dillon Carter, Juan Cuadra, Ashley Erlewine, Cody Ervin, Rashad Erwin-Ingram, Tony Harder, Keven Kreis, Kelsey Schluter, Megan Uehling.
