Faculty Committees

 

All certified staff members serve on committees that work to further the school mission.  Most, if not all, of these committees meet outside the normal school day.

Committees

 

African-American History Month

Chairperson: TBA
Purpose: Assist in the planning and organization of Activities for African-American History Month.
Membership: Bucker, Jones, D., Martin, T, Tapp, Thomas, Whitaker

Crisis Team

Chairperson: Mrs. Lee
Purpose: The purpose of this team is to help give Omaha North High Magnet School a hard copy plan that will allow staff and administrators to quickly and efficiently organize ways in which to handle various type of crisis situations.
Membership: Barels, Christopherson, Custard, Estes, Gustafson, Haynes, McCuish, Moore, SRO Magett, Tolen, Turner, R.

Faculty Courtesy/Lounge

Chairperson: TBA
Purpose: Organize donation campaign from staff. Determine and send cards, flowers, memorials for appropriate occasions involving staff members. Organize faculty “get-togethers” and end-of–the-year breakfast. Meetings are arranged. Keep lounge area, bulletin boards, refrigerator and microwave clean.
Membership: Alati, Brewer, Hall, Havelka, Paulson, Simmons, Steinbruck, Vaughan, Westbrook, Wortman

Faculty Scholarship

Chairperson: Mrs. Fleming
Purpose: Assist in regulating and evaluating qualifications of awards/scholarships and select students who qualify for each. Assist with concessions at the Vern Ekfelt wrestling meet and other activities to raise money at least four faculty scholarships per year. Meetings are generally after school.
Membership: Custard, Dappen, J., Erdenberger, Guinn, Jamal, Koch, Loder, Marty, Mertz, Meysenburg, Moneke, O'Neill, G., O'Neill, T., Pfeiffer

Homecoming Planning Activities

Chairperson: Ms. Beck
Purpose: Hall Decorations: Organize and assist with the decorating of 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors.
Publicity for parade: Notify area businesses of festivities through flyers, letters, etc.
Spirit Activities: Assist Student Council with spirit week activities, theme and fundraising.
Membership: Aerts, Bruland, Dickey, Greene-Walsh, Hetzel, Iles, Kappas, Reimer, Stephens, Szatko

Honors Night

Chairperson: Directory of Guidance, Mr. Custard
Purpose: Assist in the organization and implementation of Honors Convocation. Determine criteria for students to be honored and solicit names from the staff; program printing, stage decorations, work with PTSO with refreshments and invitations. Meetings are arranged.  Guidance Director is in charge.
Membership: Anglen, Bulgrin, Cooper, Edie, Hankel, Rowe, Scheel

National Honor Society

Chairperson: Ms. Connors
Purpose: Assist with screening and selection of candidates for selection into the National Honor Society.  Assist with activities, including the induction ceremony.
Membership: Daugherty, Gebhardt, Holley, D., Meyer, Nelson, Renfro, Roberts, Turner

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Chairperson: Mr. Poore
Purpose: Assist with organization, set-up and clean up of two (2) separate Parent/Teacher Conferences; similar duties for Fall Open House.  Meetings are arranged.
Membership: Alonso, Danner, Holley, L., Johnson, E., Martin, L., Murray, Peterson, Pospishio, B., Sprague, Wagner

Performing Arts

Chairperson: Curriculum Specialist of Music, Mr. Sitzman
Purpose: This committee assists with plays, musicals, and music programs through advertising, tickets, and supervision.  Staff on this committee should be available for evening performances: Vocal Music Concerts, Instrumental Concerts, Musicals, and Spring Play.  Other performances may be added throughout the year.  Staff will be informed.
Membership: Abdalla, Bolay, Johnson, H., Juranek, Laux, Sariscsany, Slusher, Strayer-Gass, Walter, Wilson, Witty

Prom Activities Planning Committee

Chairperson: Ms. Eggleston
Purpose: Help the prom committee with supervision of Junior Class officers while they are constructing, setting up or tearing down decorations for Prom. Individuals will help with royalty nominations and voting.  Assist students with support in promoting the Prom.
Membership: Bailey, Cooney, Freeman, Glade, Kallstrom, Mangiameli, Ricard, Skradski, Washington

Senior Activities

Chairperson: Mr. Custard
Purpose: Class Shirt sales - organization and selling of Senior Class shirts.
Senior Banquet - organization and implementation of Graffiti Awards.
Eric Awards - organize awards and recipients.
Officer Elections -conduct selection of officers (i.e. nominations, campaigns, counting ballots, etc.)
Membership: Ahern, Bernard, Degner, Taylor

Safe & Secure Disciplined Schools (SSDS)

Chairperson: Mrs. Lee
Purpose: The purpose of this committee is to provide for a safe and secure learning environment.
Membership: Canney, Parrish, Poore, Riggins, Savio, Wiig
