Vikings of Distinction

The Vikings of Distinction program was established to honor North High graduates who have achieved outstanding success in their chosen careers, faculty who played a significant role in the development of his/her students and organizations that have been a special "Friend of North High School.

The Vikings of Distinction is funded entirely by contributions and yearly awards scholarships to deserving members of the graduating class.

Although the Vikings of Distinction awards recognize adults for their achievements, the program was created to help inspire and motivate students. Our honorees return to North, participate in the school's honors convocations, meet with students in small informal group sessions and, in general, serve as role models.

To be named a Viking of Distinction, an individual, company or organization must first be nominated. The Vikings of Distinction Committee maintains a permanent record of all nominations and each year chooses those be honored by a vote of the full Committee.

Any North High School graduate, faculty member or former faculty member may nominate candidates for the awards. To be eligible, alumni must have been graduated for at least 20 years and faculty members must be retired. Nominations should be made in writing to the Vikings of Distinction Committee, care of North High School, 4410 North 36th Street, Omaha, NE 68111.
