10/23/08 2005 Scott Reed, a 2005 graduate, was recently featured on the Wichita State University website for his cross country talent and his interest in engineering - an interest fostered at North.
10/16/08 1941 A news report on NPR radio's "All Things Considered" reported that  '41 North grad Neal Hefti has died.  He rose to fame as arranger and composer for Woody Herman and, for 10 years, Count Basie.  His impact on pop culture is felt yet today, as composer of the 1960's Batman theme and the theme to The Odd Couple.

1942 grad Dean Barnett  reminenced about how Neal was always whistling and humming as he walked the halls of North and around his neighborhood north of Miller Park.  His music teacher, Margaret Nielsen, had a huge impact on Hefti, according to Barnett.

Lauren Mattern -  Lauren graduated summa cum laude from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics and environmental science.  She received a full-ride scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania and is currently working toward a master's in city planning with a concentration in transportation planning, environmental planning and growth management.  Lauren was featured in the January, 2008 issue of the OPS News in the "Celebrating Omaha Public Schools Alumni section.

Eddie Marrs - Press Release - (North High School; Omaha, Neb.) of Minnesota West Community College is the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week ending on Jan 19. Marrs scored 41 points, including 35 in the second half, in the only game of the week (a 98-96 loss to Minnesota State). His 35 second-half points sparked Minnesota West to bring a 43-25 halftime deficit to within two points.The Bluejays had a offensive explosion and scored 71 points in the second half. Marrs also had four assists, four steals and two rebounds for the game.  On the night he was 12-of-21 from the floor (.571) and 8-of-10 (.800) from the free-throw line. Eddie for the year is averaging 22 points and 4.5 assists.
