School Logo

During the 2005-2006 school year as a result of the redesign of our internet web site, it was determined that the use of multiple logos needed to be addressed. There was no single logo being used universally. What was used basically came down to what the user liked.

Examples of earlier logos include:

- The "North N" that can be tracked back to the 1970s and still adorns our lighted sign outside the building.
- The "Viking Swirl" of recent origin

- The Viking Head symbol was adopted in October, 2008 as the official athletic logo.  Its use is limited to athletic teams.

The New Logo

During the 2005 - 2006 school work was done on identifying a new logo; a logo that would fit our mission, be simple and yet be identifiable as North and be usable for the foreseeable future. The North N above, for example, is reminescent of the 1960s and 1970s. The swirl and viking head logos are more representative of our mascot, the Viking, rather than a whole school logo. After months of work, the new logo was chosen.

The "O" symbolizes Omaha, the "N" North High and the arror at the top plays on the direction "North" by indicating that North "leads the way" in its programs. Of course, the blue and gold are represented. It is now standard policy that all documentation and clothing must use the new logo. There are a few exceptions but, in most cases, this is the logo of choice.
