31 Today, $568.72 was collected during Breast Cancer Awareness Day to go towards Breast Cancer research.  The money will be donated to the American Cancer Society of Nebraska.
31 The annual Career/Vocational Fair will be held in the Viking Center on 10-31-07 from 11:00 AM -1:15 PM. Over 200 vocational training areas will be represented. [Poster]
30 Wednesday, October 31st will be Breast Cancer Awareness Day at North High.

Please note the following events to show support for those in our lives who have or still are battling breast cancer:
    -All students and staff are encouraged to wear pink, the official color of Breast Cancer Awareness.
    -Student Council students will be distributing pink ribbons during their classes and at lunch - faculty and staff may pick up a ribbon in the Training Center
    -At 7:50 during B2 class, we will have the Breast Cancer Awareness Minute: 
        -It will be announced that we are observing a minute of time in which to raise awareness and donate to Breast Cancer Research.  Students will donate the change in their pockets, B2 teachers will collect.
    -We will announce at the end of the day how much money we've raised as a building for the important cause.
28 Please congratulate Kylee Polsley and Grace Rich.  Both earned an All-State Honorable Mention for their play this softball season
28 Please join the counseling staff at the Greater Omaha College Fair on Sunday, October 28th at the UNO Fieldhouse from 12:30 - 4:00 PM.  Nearly 200 college and universities will be represented.  Also, Education Quest will provide finance aid information.  Questions? Contact the Guidance Resource Center staff at 557-3408.
26 Education major students from Dana College will visit North on October 26th as part of their college program.  They will be doing class observations and meeting with the North High administrative team.

For those preferring to drive...Easiest route to the field:

Exit at the third and final Grand Island interstate exit. Go north on Hwy 281 several miles to State Street (just past Conestoga Mall). Turn right/east on State. Go east two major intersections/stoplights to Custer. At the corner of State and Custer you'll be on the southwest corner of the campus. At that point, the team bus should proceed east one intersection to Lafayette, and turnleft/north.  Fans should turn left and go north on Custer one block, take a right on College Street, and then enter the paved lot to the north (the lot is just west of the high school
building).

Congrats to our 10 All-State musicians (including 2 alternates).  We have 3x as many honorees this year than last year!  Special kudos to Calli Pass and John Fredrickson on their repeat selection!

23 Congratulations to Ms. Rachel Beck, English teacher, on being named the Outstanding Student Council Advisor of the Year by the Nebraska Association of Student Councils.
23 Congratulations to Mrs. Kathy Lee, Assistant Principal, on being named the Outstanding Principal of the Year by the Nebraska Association of Student Councils.
22 On Monday 10/22  the North High Student Council received numerous awards by our state association, the Nebraska Association of Student Councils at this year's State Convention at Lincoln North Star High School.  The awards include:

Outstanding Student Council - Gold Level (the highest level there is)
All-State Student Council:  Stephanie Leonard and Alicia Breyne
Principal of the Year:  Kathy Lee
Advisor of the Year:  Rachel Beck

Way to go Viking leaders!  Please congratulate when you see these people around!

17 Network improvement - students and staff using the computers in rooms 242, 310 and 144 should see vastly increased network speed.  Computers in these rooms are now running at 1 GB to the desktop.  NOTE:  A few computers remain in 144 but essentially the upgrade is complete.  Next up - room 040.
15 Now playing - Eye of the Keyholder, our very own entry for this year’s “Insomnia Film Festival” sponsored by Apple Inc.  It’s a real “who done it” featuring North’s finest from Creative Writing, Drama, and Music Technology.  A permanent link to the podcast page can be found on the CURRENT STUDENTS page.
