The Omaha North High Magnet School Summer Engineering, Science and Technology Camp will hold an Open House on Friday, June 13 at 10:00 am in the Omaha North Viking Center. This ten day “Robotics Camp” is for 23 students from across the Metro area who just completed the 5th grade. The camp provides students with the opportunity to explore aspects of engineering and technology through the building of a hydraulic arm robot, utilizing engineering software applications, and studying the physics of simple machines and hydraulics.

The highlight of the Open House will be each student manipulating the hydraulic arm robot that they built during the camp.   Also at the Open House, campers will demonstrate their Rube Goldberg contraptions

The second session of the Summer Engineering and Technology camps, June 16-27, 8:30am-11:45am, will include a 6th grade Aeronautics & Aviation Camp and a 7th grade Engineering Camp.

In Aeronautics and Aviation, campers explore the physics of flight, build large paper airplane models and pop bottle rockets (launching them Friday, June 27, 10-11am), interact with model airplane enthusiasts (Thursday, June 19, 10-11:30am), and cap their experience with a flight in a small airplane with a pilot through the EAA Young Eagles program (various evenings and weekends June 21-June 29).   The 7th grade campers will design and build models for proposed structures, as well as to prepare a presentation to “pitch” their design. An open house for this session will take place Friday, June 29 at 10:00 am in the Omaha North Viking Center.
