The 1st annual Cheerleading State Championship was held in Grand Island on 2/23/08.  This championship was hosted by the Nebraska Coaches Association.  The Omaha North High Vikings were crowned as State Champions in the Class A/B Non- tumbling division and State Runner up Champions in the Class A/B side line cheer division.  Congratulation ladies!

The squad includes: Sascha Perry, Rachel Irvin, Laquilla Rupert, Morgan Stapleton, Lindsey Stennis, Chelsea Smith, Kayla Klepper, Shannon Mesenbrink, Brittany Shannon, Jessica Bradbury, Raquel Sturdivant, Chelsea Nelson, Cassie Vieth, Amberli Borrink, Shayla Wright, Tabitha Bostwick andMallary Weingaertner.

The North High Foundation will host an event in the Viking Center honoring Don Anderson, Thomas Harvey and Orville Matzke who founded the North High Foundation.

4:30 PM - Social hour and entertainment
5:30 PM - Dinner and program

Attendees are invited to be our guest at the girls/boys varsity basketball contest that evening.

14 Gloria Jackson, the great-great granddaughter of Booker T. Washington, will be at Omaha North High Magnet School on February 14th from 9:45 - 11:00 AM.  Ms. Jackson is an inspirational speaker, who sends a message of building productive lives of which students can be proud.  She is the Founder and President of the Booker T. Washington Inspirational Network and holds an undergraduate degree from San Jose State University and a law degree from UCLA.  She has worked as a counselor and a mortgage broker and she has practiced law in Los Angeles.  Ms. Jackson is currently an attorney and a real estate broker.

11 & 14 Bea Carp, a holocaust survivor, will speak to classes on February 11 and February 14th as part of North's year-long Moral Courage and the Holocaust activity.
11 Parent Involvement Day allows parents & guardians the opportunity to visit their child's classes during the school day. Shuttle Service will be available from the YMCA parking lot in the morning.  More information will be posted as received.
11 Congratulations to Tyler Borcyk who has been selected as a candidate for the United States Presidential Scholars program.  This program was created "...in 1964, by Executive Order  of the President, to recognize and honor some of the  our Nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors."
