9/28-29 Homecoming - September 24-29


The theme this year is Bright Lights, Big City

Schedule of Events:

Monday:  Miami Beach - Dress up in your favorite beach wear (over your dress clothes)! 
Tuesday:  Dallas Cowboys - Wear your favorite western gear - cowboy hats and boots will fill our halls!
Wednesday:  Windy City - Wear your crazy hair, Cubs hat, or rain poncho to school.
Thursday:  Twin Cities - Find a friend, and dress as twins for the day.
    -After School:  Hallway Decoration - see what class can have the best floor!
        Seniors:  1st Floor
        Juniors:  2nd Floor
        Sophomores:  3rd Floor
        Freshman:  Basement (near the cafeteria)
Friday:  Blue and Gold Day - Wear your favorite North High Gear to school, then to the game!
    -Parade begins at 1:00 - Miller Park
    -Football Game vs. Papillion LaVista - 7:00 - Kinnick Stadium
Saturday:  Dance , 'New York, New York',  8:00-11:00 - North High MPC
    -Tickets on sale at the Treasurer's office - must present a student ID to purchase
    -$12/person, $22/couple

9/20

Six North High females attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Women in Enginering Day on Saturday, September 20th.  Representing North was Kim Kreis, Josie Bircher, Mady Kenny, Kira Russel, Quanita Haynes and Tailla Strawn

9/19 An Open House will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 PM as part of Omaha Education Week.  Click here to view the district flyer.
9/13 Evan Hughes, the recipient of the 2006 grand prize at the Marilyn Horne Foundation Awards Vocal Competition held annually at the Music Academy of the West Summer Festival, will perform an interact with vocal music students at Omaha North High Magnet School on Thursday, September 13 from 12:20 - 1:00 PM.  The 24-year old bass-baritone's program includes five songs, comments on his developement as a professional singer, a talk about classical song and other kinds of classical vocal music like opera, and questions from the students.  His pianist, Tamara Sanikidze, also a past award recipient from the Marilyn Horne Foundation, will also participate in the dialogue.
The Marilyn Horne Foundation was founded by the celebrated mezzo to encourage, support, and preserve the art of the vocal recital, a cornerstone of Horne's own career.

Junior Class Officer campaigning

9/10 Stop & Read!  On Monday's every classroom stops and reads for 20 minutes.  The reading can be content based, free reading, or reading newspapers and discussing current events. 

Starting September 24th each teacher will have the opportunity to read diaries of World War II Holocaust victims to go along with our unit of study this school year.  More information will be coming soon.
