21 The Omaha Section of the American Chemical Society has awarded the "Outstanding High School Chemistry Student Award" to two Omaha North High Magnet School students for the 2007-08 school year.  Junior Caleb Peterson was recognized for his achievements in Advanced Placement Chemistry; sophomore Marco Lorenzo was honored for his accomplishments in first-year Chemistry.  Caleb's AP Chemistry teacher is Mrs. Susan Loder; Marco's Honors Chemistry 1-2 teacher is Ms. Kristy Hetzel.

One student per year of chemistry at each building is eligible for the award.  

Founded in 1876, the American Chemical Society is a self-governed individual membership organization that consists of more than 158,000 members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry.  The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development, regardless of professional or scientific interests.  The ACS maintains over 30 journals and publications, as well as other benefits to its members.
